Outside Lexington taking a break. Gas was hard to find in some spots!
Riders Roost! Arrived around 5 on Friday.
Hurricanes flooded the banks - lots of debris
Debris by swimming hole
Setting up tent!
These trees are a bit too close - but I couldn't take my normal spot because someone was sleeping in the cabins
Ready for supper!
Saturday morning before breaking camp. Woke up at 7 but it was foggy so I rolled over and went back to sleep!
You can still see the fog hanging around...
On Hwy 90. 60 miles or so of pavement and then....
It turns to gravel!
Ah - out in the middle of nowhere on Hwy 90!
Nice store and friendly locals!
Looking out over the bridge
Hwy 90 finally ends and I turned off on Roseboro Rd. A few miles up it - there was this really scenic stop on the side of the road.
My bike - way up the hill...
Finally after about 2 hours I get to the Blue Ridge Parkway!
Kind of cloudy :(
Little Switzerland Tunnel
Lunch in Little Switzerland. When I got here there was another DL650 rider and we chatted a bit.
Was going to go to Mt Mitchell but it was cold and cloudy so I figured the view wouldn't be worth it...
So I turned around - hit Hwy 80 and then 197. It had a gravel section as well - VERY twisty.
Nice spot for a break.
Zooming along I saw this and had to turn around and snap a pic!
Arrived in Hot Springs around 5. Took some pics before it got dark. This was Ed Speer's (and his wife) setup
Mr Prez (John)
Me! What a view!
Not sure who's rig this was.
Tarp tensioner. I need to rig some of these up for mine!
Ed brought these up for a couple who wanted to try hammock camping.
Not sure who this was either?
Thomas and his wife (think they actually slept in the shelter on the ground!) :)
Spreader idea to sleep side by side
Close up of under quilts
Side by side - one tree to two
Close up of Ed's setup
My view of the river
Packed up and ready to head home :(
Much clearer on Sunday going home.
