This area was beautifully landscaped

another old church in the old downtown section
memorial to WWII veterans - along the river down from the Kremlin. there was a battle here unfortunately
a view of the river. It looks pretty but almost all are polluted from the soviet rule. I don't think much is being done to improve things now
the Kremlin across the river
they are renovating the river front for tourists

an English sign - there aren't many
renovation for next year
bells removed from the bell tower - they were huge and we don't remember why they are not up there. Smaller bells do ring however.

This is a working Orthodox Church, not a museum. Most women covered their heads
renovations are not complete
This area has not been renovated so you can see the original frescos
The cross was taken by a Spanish brigade after WWII and has been in a church in Spain until about 5 years ago. Now it is kept in a place of honor in the church

the front of this building is almost finished - note the second story is smooth and painted
further down on the same side they are applying stucco
