What is ALS?
ALS is a disease that affects, and attacks the muscle motor neurons.
Some people call ALS Lou Gehrig's disease, because the disease was first discovered in a famous baseball player, Lou Gehrig.
ALS is a mutation.
Scientists believe that stem cells could help cure ALS, because they beleive the stem cells could grow back the damaged motor neurons.
Most people with ALS must take pills to ease muscle atrophy.
In this picture, the man has to use a device to carry him to the shower because the disease has affected his legs and other muscles, so now he can't walk.
Basically, ALS is NOT a fun disease to have.
