Stamyrbergen, Torsby Bergvik

Forest company Bergvik skog (Stora Enso) is right now logging this very high quality old-growth forest area in Torsby, Värmland. Bergvik is going to clearcut 100 hectares of this ecologically variable forest area with strong fire history. Numerous findings of 21 different red-listed species were found under two short field visits made by SSNC forest activists during the weekend although the remaining area was only partially covered with the inventory. A recently clear-cut old-growth forest area in Northern Älvdalen. This privately owned forest was logged up to 800 metres above the sea level which must be near the Swedish record! On this particular logging site there might not were irreplacable natural values destroyed even though many of the trees felled were more than 200 years of old.
