9 AM I have no idea who these guys are, but I decide we're going to race to The Narrows. I also decide to not tell them.
Normally I hug the shore, to stay safe, but the winds were dead calm so I beelined it straight to the goal.
30 minutes into the trip and they haven't even left yet!
Ok, not true, I was sweating like a pig. I stripped everything off but my pants, headed to the east shore to get in the shade behind that mountain, and kept paddling my ass off.
Wooohoo! I tried a new paddling technique today. 20 strokes per side, then switch. Last 3 / First 3 were power strokes, the rest were relaxed with corrective J's to keep straight.
Victory.
After a break and lunch, I headed back to scout for possible campsites on the West side. Here's one.
More campsites.
Gold Creek (I think?) Goes up about 500 meters, where I surprised a topless sunbather.
Taking a breather in the shade, and filling up the water bottle yet again. I almost didn't bring my MSR Miniworks water filter, but ended up drinking SIX liters today! Man it was hot.
This is a purefly flatwater canoe, but I did figure eights around those rocks for giggles. Sunbather girl must have thought I was an idiot.
