The route, heading up the stony creek, into the canyon, then moving left up onto the ridge - which looks benign, but hides some serious technical terrain that I'd always use rope and protection on.
Heather leads Paulina as we come to where the streambed narrows into a canyon - and the scrambling fun begins - which looks a little dicey as you can see with the snow and ice.
Heather evaluates the best option for a problem in the canyon.
The rock looks covered in ice, but it's actually just water worn and dry.
Leaving the canyon, we work our way up to the ridge as the sun begins to shine
Paulina enjoying the rock!
We move higher, but now out in the open, the wind begins to howl.
Getting to some pretty techincal - and exposed - terrain with the wind becoming stronger with each step higher.
We decided it's too dangerous to continue onto the techincal terrain with the wind and accept that we have to turn back - there's always another day!
