After some initial unpleasant bushwhacking, the first summit block comes into view.
The route winds under the lower cliff band and around the snow patch in the light on the right.
Here's a view of the traverse, which would take us some 6km to Opal South, the high peak in the distance on the right.
Heather on the first ridge cliff band.
Some of the ridge is easy strolling with great views.
Me, checking out the view.
Another shot of the ridge ahead of us.
More cliff bands...
Heather's up first
Cool looking strata.
Well, we won't be doing too much hanging to the left of the ridge anymore by the looks of things.
A cool hole that I noticed when looking back along the ridge.
This is where you have to take the largest elevation drop to get around this band. We stopped at a nice crack where we gave the rope an airing and had some fun climbing rather than decending to easier ground.
Heather getting ready to tackle the 5.7ish crack.
She's past the awkward stuff.
The last scrambly bit before the easy slopes up to Opal South, the high point right of centre.
After a rest at Opal South, we're ready to descend.
Looking back north along the ridge we'd tackled.
Descending Opal South as the sun is getting ready to set.
I hitched a ride the some 6km back to the car and had to share the truck bed with a lawn mower.
