On the way to Todaiji Temple
Big wooden gate to Todaiji
The biggest wooden building in the world
Nara also has friendly deer. He didn't even have food this time!
Lots of them.
Paper lantern
The leg of a giant wooden statue
Hope you can see the giant statue in there. The chicken wire completely ruins photo ops. =/
They're everywhere.
Stone lanterns
Right outside Todaiji Temple
Todaiji Templ
Big giant doors
I dunno what that thing is, but it looked cool.
Maybe THIS is the biggest wooden building?
The courtyard.
Courtyard
The biggest Buddha in the world
There are even giant butterflies!
See!
And also giant lotus
Mini buddhas around the giant one.
There was another figure next to Buddha. I don't know who, I know nothing about Buddhism.
Giant woodent statue
The back of the statue
I think it's made of gold O.O
Mean heads
Example of huge wood columns used.
This hole in the column is the size of the giant buddha's nostril...
If you can crawl through the hole, you will get good fortune or something.
There was a long line to crawl through it...
Another giant dude.
Little kids were so cute!!!
Pretty sky
They thought he had sembei (a hard rice cracker they sell for people to feed the deer)
Pagoda topper.
Another Tori gate
Lanterns.
This deer was so cute! =D
If you bow to the deer in Nara, they will bow back, no lie.
Dunno what that says at all.
I wanted to walk across this tree, but it seemed to narrow... and I was wearing "fashion" boots, not "utility" ones. Haha
Lone deer.
More stone lanterns
Metal lanterns inside an old family temple.
This area had TONS of stone lanterns. It was really cool.
The deer are so tame. The toddler in the back was spazzing with happiness but was still too nervous to pet it. =D
