A Great Grey Shrike (Lanius meriodonalis koenigi) takes off. Look at the underwing pattern
A Lesser Short-toed Lark (Calandrella rufescens polatzeki) Different colouration and extremely vocal compared to the ones in SW Spain
Common Ravens (Corvus corax tingitanus) were fairly common. They seemed smaller in body and wing length than Spanish birds
Laughing Doves (Streptopelia senegalensis). I'm not too sure about their status as true birds of the island. It may be that like some other doves there, they are escapees but do occur in Morocco
Distant views of Black-bellied Sandgrouse (Pterocles oriƫntalis). I was to have no real luck with photos of these, the Houbara Bustards and Cream Coloured Coursers. I need to give myself more time on my next visit!
Common Linnets (Acanthis canabina harterti) roosted in good numbers around the La Oliva trees in the main square. This one was taken with a flash.
Common Kestrel on Fuerteventura.(Falco tinnunculus dacotiae).
Rock Dove (Columba livia)
Common Rabbit. It can't fly but thought my daughters would like a photo of then and the Barbary ground Squirrels
Trumpeter Finch (Budanetes githagineus amantum) close-up
Spanish Sparrow (Passer hispaniolensis) . Nice male. The Sparrows do have a different song on Fuerteventura
Rock Doves at a well.
