Niue Ruins

In 2004 Niue was hit dead-on by Cyclone Heta, a category 5 cyclone. Damage was extensive in many villages, and many residents who evacuated before the storm decided not to return afterward. The damaged homes they left behind have remained vacant.

Hamilton Gardens

When we finally got to Hamilton, we stopped by the Hamilton Gardens. The gardens consisted of multiple show gardens set up in styles representative of different cultures. There were no labels for any of the plants, it was more about the ambiance of the place than being about the vegetables.

Waitomo Caves

Waitomo is famous for cave worms, small insect larvae that stick to the ceiling of caves and emit a soft blue light. Since Waitomo is in New Zealand, it's also surrounded by terribly pretty landscapes.
