My Visit to th Edinburgh Castle at last!!! A trip to Edinburgh was just not complete without a tour of the castle and a viewing of the remaining crown jewels in Scotland!!! Not visiting the Edinburgh Castle would be like going to Paris and not seeing the Eiffel Tower- the Sacre' Coeur Catholic Basilica in Montmartre-the Louvre Museum-Notre' Dame's gothic Cathedral-Versailles Palace-Arc de Triomphe.... or going to London without visiting the Tower of London-St. Paul's Cathedral-Westminister Abbey-Buckingham Palace-shopping at Herods or Covent Garden-British Museum & Library-National Gallery, etc.(too many to list here)!
Walking up the well known "Royal Mile!" (from Queen's Park all the way to Edinburgh Castle) http://www.edinburgh-royalmile.com/

Our Tour Guide. Proclaimed as "very proud to be of Scottish descent".
The oldest structure at the castle; a Chapel. One of the oldest surviving structures; a charming castle built in memory of Queen Margaret by her son King David I following her death in 1093. Today it is leased out for weddings and other special events! FYI: an old exterior with a beautiful (and old) interior.
A view of Edinburgh Castle on 'Castle Rock".
Looking out to the city of Edinburgh from the fortress of Castle Rock!
This part of the tour took my breath away! My heart went out to the Americans that were held captive here and of the ones 'never released'!
I wish you could see the carvings of the soldiers upon the doors!
Does this help?
The prisoners spent most if not all of their lives confined as prisoners at the Edinburgh Castle. Many were very talented and made beautiful items that were actually sold! This piece is a fine example. Curled wood shavings are found within.
This display speaks for itself!
All of the Scottish armory preserved and displayed.
The picture just could not give the awesomely intricate wood ceiling justice, as the lighting did not permit!
Fantastic and one of a kind, this wooden ceiling!
Beautiful stained glass windows so wonderfully preserved!
A spectacular view of the city out of this old stained glass window!
Sigh! I will miss the beauty of Edinburgh, Scotland!
