Vasquez Rocks, north of Los Angeles, are said to be the most photographed rock formation in the world. Countless television commercials have been shot there, usually for cars and trucks. The sandstone rocks were lifted at the angle by the San Andres fault, of which they are a part.
Television shows that used the rocks as a location include: Bonanza, Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, Star Trek, The Wild Wild West, The Outer Limits, Lassie, Zorro, and Daniel Boone. Films that used Vasquez Rocks as a location include: Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery (1997), The Flintstones (1994), Star Trek V: The Final Frontier (1989), Hearts of the West (1975), Blazing Saddles (1974), Apache (1954), Werewolf Of London (1935), and Dracula (1931).
