Christmas 2002
December 1st, a frigid, snowy evening. Approximately 50 people attended the ceremony at the Rockledge St. lot where the manger scene was lit for the first time this holiday season after a homily by Pastor Paul Kocenda of St Michael's Lutheran Church. The community and ESB Bank presented checks for $230.50 to both the Holy Wisdom Food Pantry and Tri-Hill Valley Meals on Wheels. Although the Santa Truck was canceled due to the weather, the children of the community had visits with him after the ceremony at Brady's Memorial Home on Southside Ave. Each child received a candy treat after seeing Santa, and everyone who attended the reception enjoyed hot dogs, cookies, hot chocolate, coffee, and tea.Thirty-three volunteers helped with the Christmas Tree Lighting by baking cookies, transporting equipment, decorating the hall, setting up decorations at the lot, setting up for the event and cooking, serving refreshments, and cleaning up after the event.
