Donegal Sportshall Teams Victories in Magherafelt Thursday, 10 March 2011

Donegal's U13 and U15 Girls and Boys Teams have regularly taken their places in Ulster Sportshall Finals and usually qualify one or two teams for the grand Aviva finals in Birmingham during April each year. In Magherafelt last Thursday thirty eight young athletes from the county once again took in these finals and for the second time in the history of this exciting venture, all four teams representing the county came out on top in each age group, and now the logistics of taking thirty eight very talented young sports stars to Birmingham begins. Truly a great achievement

Tír Chonaill Juvenile Awards 2010

On Sunday evening as the reconvened 'Tir Chonaill Juvenile Club Awards' function got under way on the Donegal Bay Water Bus, Chairman Paul O’Gara welcomed the large audience of athletes, parents and supporters. He congratulated all the award winners, thanked the various support subcommittees within the club for their unstinting work during 2010 and highlighted a number of 2010 club achievements.

Warm Weather Training in the Algarve, January 2011

12 Jan 2011 - Twenty three club athletes and coaches braved the icey conditions on New Years Eve and traveled to Belfast Airport for a flight to Faro in the Algarve. The occasion was to attend a warm weather training camp in Monte Gordo in the Eastern Algarve. During the following seven days the group, which included specialists in sprinting/jumps/throws and middle, long distance availed of the opportunity to train twice daily, rest and relax for four hours in the middle of each day, avail of the spots science and coaching support, experience a camp that included a multitude and variety of Europe’s top athletes, and have the opportunity to meet and have question and answer sessions with Ireland top International athletes - Paul Hession, Michael McKillop and Mary McLoone.

South Donegal Primary Schools Relays

Relays are always exciting. This was the result on Wednesday 24th March, when primary schools from all over south Donegal assembled in the spacious grounds of the Abbey Vocational School Donegal Town. Many close and exciting races, a superbly organised event and lots of sunshine made the event a memorable and enjoyable occasion for pupils and teachers from the following schools – Cashel NS, Glencolmcille; Carrick N.S.; Fintra NS; Niall Mor N.S. Killybegs; The Commons N.S. Killybegs; Frosses N.S; Scoil an Linbh Iosa, Killymard; Aodh Rua agus Nuala, Donegal; Gael Scoil, Baile Dhun na nGall; St Eunans, NS, Laghey; Creevy, N.S. Ballyshannon; Gael Scoil, Beala Seannaigh; St Macartans N.S, Bundoran; St Mary’s N.S Pettigo.
