Making our way across the Thai-Malaysian border down in the Muslim conflict zone. Our book recommended against it but all we encountered were happy folks
BYOB, Perhenthian Islands Malaysia
Our resident gecko
And resident balcony view
Standard body crash afte a long travel day
Our view
Our new underwater camera, named Coral. She worked amazingly for two weeks and then died.
Our deck
We walked to the other side of the island, 20 minutes away past giant lizards and spiders
Testing out Coral
The next island over, turtles swim this channel constantly
Mie Goreng, the typical fried noodles dish
Mixing the sunsets up a bit
Colorful clams
And coral
Tons of colorful little fish
And one big one
B minus swimming down to see the turtle
The turtle sign we learned in Scuba
Since the turtle moved faster than we can swim, the boat would zip along and tow us at high speeds from time to time. Like under water wake boarding
Free diving became a hobby of mine when we went snorkeling
B- didn't like it so much but did well here
Our turtle surfaced for photos!! It was quite the frenzy of snorkelers
It was incredible being this close

Making our way down from the islands to the rainforest, this was an all too common sight
Old grown forrests replaced by hundreds of miles of rolling palm trees for palm oil plantations (whatever palm oil is used for)
The village where we stayed to access Taman Negara national park
Our 2 hour self guided tour yielded some interesting animals: this is a wild peacock
Spiky bamboo
It was pretty hot, sweaty, and jungly. Small paths, we picked a few bugs and leeches off us.
Weird jungle flowers
And vines
A view of the river
An overrated but at least uncrowded canopy walk a hundred feet up
More weird plants
The look down
A huge ant
We went off trail to find this obnoxiously loud giant bird chomping bark, squawking, and whooshing its wings.
Its a hornbilled something or other and its as big as a person
An ant freeway
Vines and roots intersect
Some kind of beehive sticking out the side of a tree
Exhausted and resting
Wild animal
Another giant peacock
And gianter vines
A weird mushroom
Where we stayed that night
Crazy leaf bug
The slow boat down the river back to civilization
It was a 2 hour boatride and was surprisingly peaceful and comfy
The views were stunning along the way

Lots of little beaches and local villages. This one has a soccer pitch
Look at how dense the jungle is

Note the kid on the right
Our second dinner
