Thailand - December 2007
Stephen and I planned this trip back in May 2007 as a gift to ourselves for a very busy and jam-packed year. Nothing like a little R&R to rev our engines for 2008! We arrived in Bangkok after a long journey and spent 2 days visiting the Wats and the various shopping areas (Chaktuchak/JJ's Market, Siam Square, MBK), and then took a day trip to Ayutthaya via train. Hot and humid days led us to Koh Phi Phi Don, where we relaxed away for 3 days, while visiting the notorious Koh Phi Phi Ley, known for its starring role in "The Beach" (Leonardo DiCaprio, 90's film). After much snorkeling, squito bites and monstrous helpings of delicious curry, we were back on our way to the mainland for a few days in Sukhothai. On our journey there, we happened to find the most fabulous karaoke bar in all of Thailand in Phitsanulok, and a spent our last few days relaxing at a fabulous bungalow guesthouse and checking out some ancient ruins...the trip was just fabulous!
