Front Gate of the Eszterhaza Palace.
The Eszterhaza Palace in Fertod, Hungary. The family created a palace and park between 1762 and 1790. It is Central Europe's most significant Baroque Rococo residences, known as the 'Hangarian Versailles'.
A fountain in front of the entrance. The palace and the beautiful garden grounds are today in the hands of the Hungarian State.
This beautiful ceramic object was actually the source of heat in this room. You could find one of these in each room.
Beautiful furniture that at one time was taken from the Palace. Many things have been returned or furniture of that century is placed in the rooms decorating them close to how they orginally where.
Check out all the detail work on and around the ceilings.
This room was quite spacious and had marble floors. It was a nice cool room during a hot summer day.
Kristi enjoyed seeing this small chamber room for solo artists. Joseph Haydn was a long residence and composer to the Esterhazy court.
The cello just waiting to be played.
A few of the rooms had wonderfully painted walls. Many with an Oriental influence.
The ballroom
Joseph Haydn has given this palace world renown and one room was dedicated in displaying his work. One group many room behind our tour was singing....it was amazing acoustics and sounds.
This was a picture of the chapel looking downward from the second floor.
Another picture of the chapel.
A look out the back window into the huge garden, grounds and woods. About 500 acres.
