The 1946 Leyland Tiger which is our transport for the day. While this obviously wasn't used by AW in 1930, it was the bus used by BBC4 in 'The Life And Times Of Alfred Wainwright'.
The inside of the bus.
Luckily Beth didn't have to stand up for the journey to Windermere.
More of our transport
The sign says it all.
Our transport disappears but will hopefully return later!
Views of Windermere as we start our climb up Orrest Head.
Beth, Mary, James Bell (who took a very clever panaromic shot of all of us at the top), Roger, Harry and Bethan.
Windermere through the trees.
Polly awaits the final part of the route.
More of Windermere.
More of our party negotiate the gate.
Langdale Pikes
Peter gave a fantastic speech in his usual style. However, the most important point was we then had 2 minutes silence for the West Cumbrian tragedy from earler in the week which was a very poignant but emotional moment.
Zooming in on Ambleside and the Langdales.
The route down the fields to the farm and the road back to Windermere.
Where's Peter!!?
Windermere in glorious sunshine.
Looking up to the Langdales.
Luckily our bus is awaiting us for our return journey.
That's what we're waiting for.
....and there's more!!
