BFAT: Before Flourless Almond Torte. As a healthy chef I may not want to use that acronym... but it really was like a whole different era until this recipe's creation.
Grinding the almonds for the almond flour, our gluten free base for this torte.
The batter
If I were to make this again, I'd use a tart pan... no reason really for a huge cake pan like this when the cake barely rises.
Toasting more almonds. These get chopped up and sprinkled on top.
The final components: baked cake, berry coulis, chocolate to melt over top, and toasted almonds.
To plate the torte you flip it out of the pan and then peel off the parchment from what was the bottom.
Topped with the chocolate and almonds, berry coulis on the side.
