St. Nicholas' Day
On December 5 (St. Nicholas' Day) Czechs celebrate by dressing up like one of three characters: St. Nick, an angel, or a devil. This holiday's tradition is that the three characters ask children if they have been good or bad. The good children are rewarded with candy, while the bad children are put in a sack and taken to hell by the devil!! People dressed like devils actually try to scare children on this night with their cosumes, loud growls/yells, and threats of putting them in sacks.
