Hi everyone! My name is Nicki and this is how I curl my hair. I can't do it by myself, so Miss Joan will help me.
Here are the tools we like to use: A spritz bottle of water, a doll wig brush and a wide tooth metal dog comb- the comb is optional, but we like it better then a hair pick. (We use it to gently remove the tangles, but make sure to mist the hair first before you comb it.)
First, Miss Joan mists my hair with water, just enough to get it damp and then she sections off a clump of hair.
She carefully brushes it until smooth. (This is a 2 handed job but she had to use one hand to take the photo!) She starts at the ends and carefully removes the tangles, gradually working her way up toward my scalp.
With the back of her hand against my head, she clamps the section of hair between her fingers.
Then she begins to roll the hair around her finger, keeping the hair smooth and following the natural curl. She starts wrapping near her hand and works down to the tip of her finger. (Another 2 handed job, but one hand is taking pictures!)
When all the hair is rolled around her finger, she smooths the ends out so it looks nice and silky and holds it for a few seconds.
Then she lets the curl drop off of her finger.
She adjusts the curl to make it look perfect. Curl #1 is done!
Then we move on to the next clump of hair and repeat the process, working all the way around my head.
It takes a little bit of time to curl all of my hair, but I'm worth it!
The size of the curl depends on how big the section of hair is. If you use smaller sections of hair, you get many smaller curls.
Here, my hair is divided into 2 sections (piggy tails!) and curled the same way.
To do a pony tail, we pull it back, then finger curl as many curls as we want.
Here, my hair is spritzed with water, carefully combed with the wide tooth comb (a brush or pick will work too) then scrunched and left to dry. (How to scrunch: scoop up a hand full of hair and make a fist.)
I hope that helped. Thanks for visiting. Adios! http://www.beds-n-blankies.com/howto.htm
