Day 1- Roadside of cottage
Looking from the road
Closer view of roadside of cottage and the bunkie
Waterside of cottage and our weedy "lawn"
Closer view of waterside, spongey logs & disintegrating roof
Boathouse- definitely a phase 2
Bunky
Side of boathouse
Waterside of cottage
Shaggy cedars blocking our view
The old front door goes in through the kitchen. The door has been moved and the kitchen is now a bedroom.
Rustic but not very functional. Only 2 burns worked on the stove and the oven not at all.
The old front door
Kitchen from the loft
Waterside entrance and the old dining room (now kitchen)
The old living room... same location for the new one but a lot more inviting
A peak at the old bathroom
The door on the right was the only (very small) bedroom
The old dining room. We removed the window in favour of more kitchen cabinets.
The old bathroom
The only little bedroom
The loft
The only ceiling lighting
Smiling even thought we have a TON of work ahead
Great view... if you look past the property
The boathouse
The point
Did I mention a TON of work?
Oh but the potential
I think Sean agrees that dock will need some work
Work is under way
You have to make a mess to get to the final product
Make shift kitchen and dining room
Best part of the cottage so far
One dock section in, another in the works...
Harvest gold stove anyone?
New and improved bunky, awaiting Cape Cod siding
House strapped and ready for walltite sprayfoam and then we get to add our wood siding
Still need to add more pickwick tongue and groove panelling
New washroom, with our fancy integrated washer/dryer
Its a family affair... thanks Dad.
A glimse of what the cottage will look like
New front door (at the side of the cottage)
Love the Ikea kitchen
Lots of changes... Heat & Glo propane fireplace, Hanstone quartz countertops, Ikea furniture, Cortenar wool area rug...
So cozy
New Jeld-Wen windows from Home Depot
Love my Summerwind shutters from Hunter Douglas
Adel white kitchen from Ikea
We kept the cathedral ceilings over the great room and kitchen
The only full closet in the cottage had to be multi-purpose. This is a Kwik Kloset with the added feature of tongue and groove cedar- functional and smells nice!
Looking down from the loft
My "custom made' Captain's bed. (Its 2 malam dressers from Ikea placed side-by-side and a platform over top and one continous recessed white kick to help unify them). Low cost but high style. This bedroom is where the kitchen use to be.
The other bedroom- a queen storage bed, with floor lamps for bed side reading, Hunter Douglas shutters and inVU ready-made drapery panels. The window is centred on the outside, but not in this room, so I added 3 full panels on the larger side (the left) and only 2 on the other to try and minimize the difference.
The new bathroom with a Langdon Mills vanity, Motiv sconces and Cascade faucets.
A dual flush (low cost) Mansfield toilet, mixed glass and marble tile from Daltile, and a Maax shower base and glass from Home Depot.
The new and improved waterside view from our Veranda composite dock (decking from Home Depot). The brackets are adjustable and made by Beaverton Metal Works.
What a view
We had tons of rain but even that has its perks
Sunset Cocktail anyone?
