Eggmont Key on Florida Lighthouse Day
The weather was perfect and the day was beautiful as we set off to spend the day at Eggmont Key. Unbeknownst to us, Gov. Charlie Crist had proclaimed Sept. 15th Florida Lighthouse Day and Lighthouse volunteers were there to give us a brief history lesson of the lighthouse and the island. We enjoyed a visit to the one room museum, walking tour of the Fort Dade ruins, a picnic, the beach and lots of wildlife...we saw gopher tortoise, manatee, shark, dolphin, jelly fish, and flutter fish! (You'll have to ask Debbie and Dee Dee about that last one.)
