Clouds Rest and Half Dome, Yosemite National Park
21.2 miles Day Hike and the Plan by Silviu : This hike does not need any introduction, as Half Dome is maybe the most famous peak in Yosemite. This time we are not going to climb it from Yosemite Valley. Instead, we will approach it from Tenaya Lake, via Clouds Rest.
We will leave the Bay Area on Friday afternoon/evening and drive to Yosemite, trying to find a campsite somewhere along Route 120 (Porcupine Flat would be the best choice, as it is the closest to the Sunrise Lakes trail head - it has restrooms and water from the creek nearby).
Saturday very morning we will leave our tents in the campground and drive to Tenaya Lake. The early start is necessary to avoid the crowds and the long waiting line before reaching the peak. The cables on Half Dome are famous, especially among acrophobics. Please let me know if you have any fear of heights.
