Boats in the harbor at Hyannis, MA
Boats.
Sarah waiting on the ferry to Nantucket
Still waiting...
The Duckmobile.... it was actually a big tour bus, that doubles as a boat! By land... or water!
Big boat called Gay Head.... that is the name of the city!!
My ship comes in! Our ferry ride!
So happy
Sexy windblown look!
The trip begins!
Checking out boats in harbor as we pull in to dock the ferry in Nantucket
Boats in the harbor
Jerry looking forward to our vacation
Bright sun with lighthouse
Pretty lighthouse
Pretty couple
HUGE boat. I think they got this at K Mart
Sarah as she begins her shopping adventures... straight for the fudge!
We just missed sunset
Jerry posing for the picture
So sweet
Me in my room, provided by the Vanessa Noel Hotel (VNH)
We toured the Whaling Museum. This is a sperm whale skeleton
These are artifacts made from whale bone. I think these were used to crimp the pie crust... really.
Me checking out the exhibit... actually, taking advantage of the bench. It was a big museum.

Light for light house
Description of the fresnel lens application in lighthouse
It's the whale again
Bow of the boat
Looking down the mouth of the whale
Whale hand aka fin.
Oldest house on Nantucket
Built as a wedding gift in 1686 for Jethro Coffin and Mary Gardner, it is the sole surviving structure from the island's original seventeenth-century English settlement (just a little history for ya)
Windmill built in 1746... still works.
Award winning flower garden... that's what the tour bus guide told us.
Sankaty Head Light in town of Siasconset on Nantucket Island
Stepped off tour bus to get a picture
Another light retired from a lighthouse
Went out to dinner at Ship's Inn , in historic home of whaling captain Obed Starbuck, built in 1831. So much history in this town!!
Do you see how well I matched my dress with the painting!! What a coincidence!
Posing outside a shop on the walk home from dinner.
Got up the next morning and rented bikes. Took a 20-mile (round trip)bike ride to Siasconset... stopped for a break to take in the landscape.
Beautiful, but a bit foggy. A trademark of Nantucket
The fog
Me with bike and basket. Cute, huh.
Just a lit perspiration here... good long bike ride, but weather was just right.
Finally made it to the beach.
Tried to lay out... but can't say I have any tan lines from it... too much fog. Oh yeah... we got all the way to the beach, but forgot towels, so we bought a couple 'souvenirs'!!
It was actually a little sunny -- but I mostly just read my books and Guide to Nantucket.
Jerry thinking about getting in.....
But the water was quite cold!!
A look at the shore line... can't see very far.
It wasn't very crowded this day...hmm, wonder why!
The bike ride back to Nantucket
This is one of the most photographed and painted scenes/houses on the island. In spring/summer -- the house has a beautiful rose garden all around and ON the house!!
Me riding my bike... looking like a dork!
Passing the light house light again....
Gas prices.... arm and leg! But the island is only 14 miles long and 3.5 miles wide... so not far to go when you gotta go somewhere!
We walked to Jetties Beach on another day and stopped in front of a house that had beautiful hydrangeas blooming. Had to get a picture!
And time to go home.... view from the ferry taking us back to reality!
Sarah on the ferry. We took the high-speed on the way there... took about an hour. Took the traditional ferry on the way back -- took about 2 hours. But we got to sit on the deck outside the whole time and again, the weather was perfect for it!
Jerry on the back of the boat
...and the wake as the boat leaves Nantucket.
