Incongruity is applying sunblock while it is cold enough to be wearing a hat. It was cool this morning at the start, but would be sunny and warm this afternoon. Best of all, I am sporting a stylin' new wool hat from relatives in Norway. It has real tassels, woo hoo!
And we're off.
Obligatory panorama.
Obligatory panda.
Obligatory cow art.
We met the first group of fasties on their way back at the Snow Camp checkpoint.
Branson's bike rests at Snow Camp. Something looks missing here.
Thanks to whoever left this jug of water at the Snow Camp checkpoint. We consumed it on our return trip.
I found this figurine of 'The Joker' from the Batman series one of the many times I stopped to reinstall my persnickety chain. You never know what you will find on roadway shoulders. Nor can I explain why I picked it up.
Obligatory long-shadow photo.
After dinner in Morrisville with Jayjay and Skiffrun, I was treated to stopping for a short freight train while driving home. You can't see the train itself here, but those vertical white reflectors are a new safety feature. They have been required on the sides of all freight cars in the US for the last few years. It's an attempt to prevent cars from driving into the side of a passing train. Time will show if it works.
Here is my new basket. I procured an old coaster bike just to get this size and color basket. It's great for easy access to food, camera, clothes, etc. I love it.
The two arrows indicate where the derailleur bent during yesterday's ride. I gingerly bent them back into shape with vise grips on the roadside. Today, this photo shows the hanger was bending even again during the rest of the ride. Can I spell 'fatigue'??? I guess it's time to start scrounging for a replacement.
