It's time for your biennial refrigerator cleaning. Or maybe triennial.
Wait for a nice cold winter day, with sub-freezing temperatures.
Remove all goods from the freezer compartment.
Stash the freezer goods in a laundry basket or other big container.
Remove all goods from the refrigerator compartment.
Stash them too.
Place everything outside to keep cold.
Important: Take photos of the original shelf heights before removing shelves.
Resist the urge to use a garden hose.
Resist the urge to use a leaf blower.
Do vacuum loose detritus while still frozen. Then clean all surfaces with sponge and warm water.
Wash and dry the removable shelves and hardware.
Reinstall shelves. Refer disbelieving cohabitants to earlier photos as evidence that the shelves were reinstalled at the original heights.
Et voila. After returning food items from outdoors to indoors, the veggies, ice cream, and cohabitants are happy. You are good for another year. Or two.
