Checkpoint 1, the start at Farrington and Lystra, just north of Jordan Lake. Route owner Jerry met us at the start with cards and waivers. What hospitality. He promptly scooted off to ride a different perm (Yanceyville 200K, I believe)
Even though the sign said "OFFICE inside store", my wishful thinking saw it as "ICE inside store".
Checkpoint 2: Wendy's in Carrboro was open and substituted for the not-so-Open Eye Cafe across the street.
Checkpoint 3 at Frosty's. A memorable convenience store AND notary public.
Frosty's dog. Gracious and friendly, just like the ambience inside the store.
Checkpoint 4: The General Store Cafe in Pittsboro, right across from the historic courthouse which burned recently.
Checkpoint 5: Ray's Super Market in Moncure, the town of artists. Jayjay is busy writing in her journal.
Checkpoint 6: The New Hill Community Store, in (guess where) New Hill.
Woo hoo, I got a DOUBLE DECKER Moon Pie in New Hill.
Checkpoint 7, back at the finish. Farrington and Lystra, still just north of Jordan Lake.
Oh, and Jayjay made it to the finish too. And the sign still says "ICE inside store"...
We delivered the perm cards and receipts to Jerry's place shortly thereafter.
