Explorer RV Club members and their guests gathers each month over the winter - January we met at the Sun Palace in McAllen Attendees call Ontario, Quebec, Alberta, and England home. 130 Snowbirds from 28 Valley Parks joined together for a fun lunch at the Sun Palace in McAllen. Dec 09 - Killer Bees Hockey Game

Dodge Arena is a new modern rink. Tulsa goalie was at our end and the Bees had numerous shots on goal so the game was fast and enjoyable. Unfortunately The Bees lost in an Overtime Shootout. The Bees and Tulsa are part of the Central Hockey league.

Progresso wanted to Welcome their Winter Texans back to their neat village. A squirmish between the Army and the Drug Cartel later on in the afternoon was a downer. But now Progresso has ramped up their security. We will return to that friendly place.

Alamo Palms RV Resort Residents gather at tables of 16-22. Park buys the turkeys and table mates provide the balance of the meal. Each table is decorated by attendees, Super way of a celebrating these fun memorable occasions. We will repeat this at Christmas - main course will be ham at that meal.

We stayed at RRed River Rance - an RPI Park, but there is new RV Park behind this impressive casino - price @ $15. per night. Each Thu Morning they provide a huge free breakfast at the casino. Most stricking place to visit.

Oct 09 Precious Moments Chapel.

Tour Price is by donation. It includes a personal guided tour of the Chapel plus an explanation of Sam Butcher's (artist) life. We originally toured this Mecca in 1989 - it's first year. Theree used to be a campground here but that is now closed. A Christmas Theme is highlighted throughout.

Diary Reader Pat and recent widow lives in Lansing and she treated us for lunch and took us on a tour of this incredible city and all around the huge Michigan State University. Over 40,000 students attend this University. Impressive as to its size, One day this lady would love to get back to RVing. Thanks so much for the tour Pat. Maybe we will see you on the road one day.

This is the home of their awesome test kitchen. What a neat place this is. They also have room to park our motorhome a stones through from the lake. The setting is idyllic. Way to go girls, it is beautiful for sure. Note we actually visited on the 20th but the date on my camera was out by one day.

Sep 09 - Underground Railroad with Bonnie and Doug

The Underground Railroad of 1881 relates how Josiah Henson was influential in Freeing Slaves - he himself was responsible for personally freeing 118 persons. These unfortunate souls made every effort to get to Canada where slavery was banned. Entire families hid by day and walked mega distances by night to escape. The village of Dawn was established complete with schools so the slaves could learn a craft to be a prominent resident in their new homeland. Everyone should visit this outstanding museum located in Dresden - SW Ontario..

Nov gathering was at Golden Coral in Weslaco - 44 RVers were in the Rio Grande Valley; Dec Gathering was at Luby's in Westlaco - was also 48: Jan was at the Sun Palace in McAllen for 100+ Snowbirds have arrived. Since my batteries died I send a huge thanks to Don McKelvy for coming to my photo rescue in McAllen. In February 09 we gathered at Lin's Grand Buffet in Weslaco. 120 attended this fun event.
