We started our adventure at the Outspan where we took a nature walk and had lunch before taking the hotel bus out to Treetops.
We saw lots of birds. I'm not a birder though and have not a clue what this is.
The nature walk.
Terry found a small porcupine quill in a tree. They are nothing like what I thought. They are hollow and look like they would hurt a lot if you got one stuck in you.
This is a huge tree where tradition says that if you run around it like 7 times you will change sexes. We didn't try it.

baboons on our way into Treetops
This is the famous Treetops. It is all on stilts and started out as a treehouse. Seriously.
my first sighting of elephants outside of a zoo!
We were so close to the animals it was amazing!
This little guy was about 3 days old!
This is a small fresh water pool. The two ponds on either side of the hotel are salt water and elephants will drink either.
I love this picture!
This is an African elephant and a cape buffalo.
This young bull elephant was playing in the pond in the rain.
Terry, Tim and I were the last ones out and about watching the animals. I think we went to bed around 1:30.
It was worth it!
Seriously. I was this close. I could've touched it!
Sunrise in Africa
Mt. Kenya! It is often covered by clouds so it was a joy to see it so clearly!
Terry, me and Tim with Mt. Kenya behind us.
The tree that the hotel is built on.
This is some sort of parasite that grows on trees. But it is a beautiful parasite, huh.
