Sam "I don't do prep-work" Rothchild was the brains behind the operation. What he lacked in wet-sanding willingness he more than made up for in spray-gun skills. That, and he's the only one of us with a shop.
JohnnyMac: one mean dude with a sheet of 400-grit paper.
Thawley masks his car while J.Mac masks his enthusiasm.
Johnny is going on three years with that shirt. (Note unauthorized glimpse of Rothchild - in background - wrenching on a new B20/VTEC powered H1 car expected to debut at Cal-Speedway in March.)
Painting racecars is very finicky business and not something that can be done just anywhere. Certainly not at Thawley's house. Our facility of choice possesd the two most desirable qualities: it was free and the only neighbors who might get pissed were Sam's.
Paint prep area. Must be perfectly clean.
Stirring the Orange.
Special surgical mask with masking tape nose-seal. Just like the pros use.
