Dr. Jonathan Schanzer is vice president of research at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies. He is the author of Hamas vs. Fatah: The Struggle for Palestine and Al-Qaeda's Armies: Middle East Affiliate Groups and the Next Generation of Terror.
He holds a bachelor's degree from Emory University and a master's degree from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in Middle Eastern studies. He also studied Arabic at the American University in Cairo in 2001. He received his Ph.D. from Kings College, documenting the history of the United States Congress and its efforts to combat terrorism.
Dr. Schanzer publishes widely in the American and international media. He has appeared on American television channels, such as Fox News and CNN, as well as Arab television channels, such as al-Arabiyya and al-Jazeera. He has traveled widely in Iraq, Yemen, Egypt, Morocco, Kuwait, Qatar, Turkey, Jordan, Israel, and the Palestinian Territories.
