Which makes for a pretty vista, until we realize that our road is likewise submerged...
So we take off our shoes and portage our bikes and panniers across! How refreshing!

Betsy looks like she just pedaled 85 miles and still has 5 more to go. This was our 90 mile day from Muscatine to Dallas City. We did get rewarded with a gorgeous sunset as you can see.
Our wonderful Dallas City hosts, Doris and Jess, who are avid cyclists and shared many stories!
The folks we stayed with in Dallas City introduced us to their cows!

original building was burned down by townsfolk who wanted the mormons out. now they have rebuilt their temple in the same place.
