Sardines wash ashore at Chesterman Beach, Tofino (August 4-5-6, 2009)
A few nights after the Humboldt squid washed ashore on Tofino beaches, several hundred (if not low thousands) of sardines washed up. They may have died from a disease called VHS, or after hitting a patch of low oxygen waters. Samples have been sent to the Pacific Biological Station for testing.
