Taking a break at High Trail junction, Sunday
Beautiful vista.. We saw lots of Elk on High Trail.. We also got stuck in an intense thunderstorm for about 30-minutes, complete with lighting, hail, rain and wind.. I never heard thunder so close!
After a 9-mile hike, we will camp close to this old cabin, near Temperance Creek.
An old wood STOVE inside
It rained most the night, but we camped under this big pine that shielded us from some of the moisture. This is breakfast Monday morning.
On the Temperance Creek trail. This hike was scary and frustrating for me. The trail was non-existent in many areas and we had to dig, claw and scratch our way thru thick brush, trees, stinging nettle and poison ivy.
Poison ivy.. Temperance Creek was running fast, cold and loud, but having to cross it about 13-times washed-off any oils we may have picked up from this vile weed.
After 4-hours in the "jungle", we came out here along the Snake River.
Temperance Creek Ranch.. Nobody was here at the time, but you could tell a caretaker regularly stops by for maintenence. We had a very nice rest near here.
There were pigs in there at one time, according to Ben
Looking North on Snake River
Our last night of camp. We saw a deer across the river on the Idaho side.
Kabota tractor at Temperance Creek Ranch
Last camp
We hit the trail around 7:30 Tuesday morning.. That's Kirkwood Historic Ranch on Idaho side.
Me and Lee: co-workers, co-hikers
Ben comes over hill
The day was overcast which made the hike cool and pleasant (this is looking North)
We made it! It's about 11:30am.. Jet boat will pick us back up here and ferry us back to Idaho side.
Leaving Hell's Canyon and heading home.
