Take a laptop. Its amazing how we can stay connected these days.
Eat street food. Sharing common man's food is usually the best way to enter a culture and make new friends.
Take games to pass the travel time.
Wear cool hats and take public transit--IF it works as well as it does in Bangkok.
Carry a Ukelele or some other little musical instrument and sing on busses, airplanes, terminals...anywhere. People love it. Sherry got me this uke in May. Still trying to master it.
Chill out and learn to enjoy the found time when you have to wait for something.
Don't pack so much stuff....(ok, so we haven't mastered that one yet--actually the kids are pretty lean packers)
