KAWAI ES4 opened up
Using a toothpick to wipe the white Lithium grease back up the front guide post under a black key.
Only the black keys have front guide posts in the Kawai ES4 design. Roland uses short guide posts for its white keys and taller guide posts for its black keys.
It's the grease that keeps the black key from making a noisy clack when it bumps against the side of a guide post. It's the left side of the post that the key bumps against, not the top. It's the same design in the Roland FP4.
Carefully spreading the original grease back up and around the guide post. The factory guy did a rush job, it takes time, and did not give it thorough coverage. The factory grease may not be thick (sticky) enough to avoid slipping back down.
The grease has slipped onto the felt strip that the black key bottoms out against. The grease on the felt is not really a problem, in my opinion.
Grease rubs off on the hollow insides of the keys.
On the right you can see the pronged back ends of the keys where they pivot. Removal is the same as on the Roland.
