This is the boat we sailed on - next to it you can see the skiff we used to get to Baker Island
Lobster Boat
One of the many “Porcupine” Islands - so named because of the spruce trees and rounded shape
Cadillac Mt from the water
Champlain Mt
We saw a Bald Eagle! Didn't even realize I'd gotten this shot - the boat was moving and I was zoomed in, I took about 4 then gave up - but one came out! yippee!
Towing the skiff
More Porcupine Islands
Mansions high on the rocks
I'm pretty sure this is still Cadillac
That's probably the Beehive
The Beehive and Great Head
The Beehive and Sand Beach
All along there is where I was walking the other day!
Off to the left is Gorham Mountain
Looking back on Gorham Mountain
Took this shot to use with my kids - pefect Cirrus Clouds!
Another shot for school - perfect cumulous clouds! The next few cloud pics are for school. I sure hope I don't see any stratus clouds! :-)
Gorham Mt & The Beehive in front and Champlain and Dorr Mts behind
The big round one is Cadillac
Harbor Seal popping his head out! He stayed popped up for a long time!
Mt. Desert Island from Baker Island
At low tide there is almost a land bridge connecting a few of the islands out here.
A costal iris? Iris something...native, very hard to photograph!
Butterfly had GREAT timing! :-)
Baker Island Lighthouse
More fun flowers!
I think the barbed wire fence at the bottom really takes away from the whole “ambiance”
Ranger Todd
The bee had excellent timing too!
Dance Rocks - apparently they had dances out here in the 1800's - it's also a great place to find tide pools!
Sell animals in the tide pool.
Part of the island was very woody
Part of the island was very open and grassy
The building on the other island is an old lifesaving house
Better view of the lifesaving house
It kinda looks like a big lopside butt don't ya think?
This guy was pretty cool - he and I talked a little on the way back - he'd been to tons of National Parks and LOVES them all! He's in his 70s, I guessed that by what he said
The island in the background is Baker Island
Better shot of it
At the top you can see the retaining wall from the Loop Road - this is Otter Cliffs, I walked through this on Sun
Monument Cove - remember Sunday's pictures?
Also along the Ocean Path
Thunder Hole
Gorham Mountain
The Beehive
Sand Beach & Great Head
Old Soaker - the rock formation that helps Sand Beach have sand
The flotaing buoys you see in the pictures are lobster buoys.
Another mansion on the rocks
We are back to the Porcupine Islands!
This is not a Porcupine Island - it's the Trumcap.
Lobster Pots!
