The Internet Cafe! My favorite place in town!
Rocks and Fog
An Eider (sp?) - it's a kind of duck, there was a whole “herd” of them
The seagulls pose for pictures!
Eider shaking off the water! This was accidental, but pretty cool! :-)
I was trying to “stalk the spray” and get the wave crashing up on the rock, hard to do!
Monument Cove - there's a part of the rock to the left of the open area that looks like a statue
More “spray stalking”
Really, there was cool shot here just seconds before!
Note the fog in these pictures, in a few minutes there will be the same picture, only with sun!
Susan Mayne the Ranger!
This was a cool purple flower, but it was not very photogenic!
zoomed out they look better
These were the same purple flowers - Harebells I think, but they were WAY down on a rock so I could zoom better
Looking down! Don't worry Mom I was pretty far from the edge although it doesn't look it here! I must have zoomed!
You can see the fog in the background, a few minutes later this spot was crystal clear!
Otter Point!
Wave Stalking at Otter Point
Kinda got it!
missed it. :-(
Missed it again. :-(
Trying a new rock.
GOT IT! :-)
Got it again! :-)
And again! Helps that the waves were big and frequent down here! :-)
You can see the sun coming out - it's much brighter....
One of the gals on the hike, a fellow teacher, offered to take my picture!
See how the sun is burning off the fog?
Got the wave again! (It becomes like a game, or an obession)
missed again.
kinda, but not quite
Trail Marker sign - they are more “authentic” but hard to read!
Look how sunny it is now!
This spot had some cool wave action, but that guy was in the way and I didn't feel like walking all the way out where he was!
SUN! See how the fog is gone from the ocean?
Look at those mountainsd back there! An hour ago they weren't there! (well, they were, but you couldn't see 'em!)
See the marks at the tops of the rocks? Those were made when they split the rock to make them uniform sizes. Rockefeller's worker-bees did that right after he bought the land to make it a park.
You can see the fog making a comeback!
These purple flowers are everywhere! Not sure what they are, the look a bit like Lupine, but they aren't.
This is back almost where I started.
This is the spot by Monument Cove, where the Eider were before...now you can see the land sticking out!
Mounument Cove, sans fog.
Thunder Hole - the water kinda drains out just before the wave comes in
The white is the spray - I wasn't in a good spot.
You can see how it drains...see the water falling off the rocks?
Another spray
These pink flowers are eveywhere too!
Looking down on Sand Beach - check out the fog making it's return!
Otter Cliffs is different from Otter Point!
