The Victor Pineda Foundation Launches “Children: Know your rights!” in Uganda during the Interna
The event attracted over 60 people from development partners, DPOs, Human Rights Organisations, academicians, Media Houses. It took place at Hotel Africana, from 10:00am-11:00am on 10th December 2009.
The book was developed by VPF Program Officer Ambrose Murangira, a disability leader from Kampala. The book launched on 10th December to coincide with International Human Rights Day.
Children themselves managed the one-hour event. The programme of the day included the following; Speech from Hon. Alex Ndeezi (MP) on the formation of PWDs Act 2006; Speech by Ambrose Murangira on why write the book; Two poems (including that in the book) were cited by two children aged 6 and 7 years; Quiz time (where children below 13years paused three questions to audiencies); speech by Joanne Bosworth of DFID who also guest of honor; finally the book was unveled and launched.
