A view of Fairfield Rd., Inverness; the building behind the tree is my B&B
A row of pretty houses on my walk down to the city centre
The Grieg Street footbridge and a view of Inverness on the other side of the river
There were lots of pretty old churches; unfortunately, I forget the names
Here's another one... I'm not sure you're interested...
There was something about the green of the grass... Inverness Castle up on the hill
A view of the city from the castle hill
And the other side
Oh joy! More pretty doors!
The river Ness bisects the city, and you get some nice views in places
Give the Brits some water and they'll find something to do in it!
Cavell Garden - a WWII and Great War Memorial - and its lovely flowers
I'm not a flower person, but this was pretty
Still Cavell Garden
And more of its pretty flowers
Lest we forget that Inverness is a city - view from one of the footbridges across the Ness
The subtle angles on each sign are hilarious!
There are broad walking paths on both sides of the Ness for walkers and cyclists - they do want you to enjoy it
A view of Castle Wynd (Inverness Castle), now some sort of official premises
St. Andrew's Cathedral - they had a concert during lunch but I was too busy lazing by the Ness :-/
The day started out gloomy, but got progessively better
Closer to the city centre it gets quite busy; Castle Wynd in the background
Message in a bottle :-)
Nice part of town - I'd love one of these houses, right on the banks of the Ness!
The only photo of me in Inverness - taking a photo of my room!
Off to meet Nessie - can't remember why I'm smirking
On the Caledonian Canal - it's already so pretty that I think my head will explode by the time we reach the Loch Ness
St. Andrew's saltire, the flag of Scotland, doesn't seem to mind the steady drizzle
Entering Dochgarroch (yep, pronounce that!) Lock chamber to equalize water levels for our onward journey
And my first view of one of the most famous stretches of water in the world, the mysterious Loch Ness
It's hard to crack a smile when you're freezing your arse off - and note the layers!
Deep breath, compose yourself... better photo! (Kate sharpened this photo to find Nessie poking her head out of the water!)
It was truly terrible day, evidenced by the lack of passengers travelling on the top deck!
The ruins of Urquhart Castle on the shores of the Loch Ness
Funny how ruins can be depressing and awe-inspiring at the same time
Not much left of it...
A hint from the west that the weather might show some improvement (can you believe this is a LAKE?!!)
Back towards Inverness on the Caledonian Canal - my head didn't explode but it was close
