Screen-shot of the preview window in Hugin showing how the individual photographs are organised into the panoramic view. The spot where the cursor lies is impinged on by six of the sixteen photos that comprise the entire scene. Each photograph has been stretched to fit the overall perspective according to the selective lens emulation mode, here I am using 'Equirectangular'.
Full view of mature Cabbage Tree growing at the bottom of our section. The berries on this tree are a great attraction to the birds, as they ripen, and a source of interest to me watching from our kitchen window, about 8 mitres above the base of the tree.
Blue Skies with wispy high cloud near year's end.
Lower resolution picture.
Panoramic view of Highwick House, New Market, Auckland. Pieced together using Hugin and GIMP.
Just some of the bush in an adjoining section.
The Cabbage tree in flower, 11 Nov 2012.
Here's a more recent double rainbow, taken from the roof of our house. This time the reflected part of the rainbow was less extensive and appeared only on the left of the view. The colours of the rainbow itself are a little muted from those actually seen. 2012-08-15-DoubleRainbow-2025x1050.jpg
Dramatic skies, looking West, on a winter's afternoon.
Dramatic skies, looking East, on a winter's afternoon.
This is currently the view from Pemberton Ave, just above Pemberton Park. Just over a year ago there were four large trees outside the house in the middle-ground. Today they are reduced to four piles of wood-chips. This picture was cropped from the raw image using GIMP.
View towards Hobsonville from Pemberton Avenue, just above Pemberton Park.
View over towards Hobsonville, fom Arcadia Crescent.
Views of Hauraki Gulf, Rangitoto, Auckland's North Shore and Coromandel Ranges, from top car-park, Glenfield Mall.

Dramatic skies viewed from Manuka Rd about half an hour before sunset, 20/02/2012.

Stand of mature pines at Longbay, Auckland. Three shots merged into one panorama using Hugin.
Puhoi Historic Village, Monday 23rd August, 2010
Street-scape, looking down Manuka Rd to the South, with mature Norfolk Pine as chief object of interest. I have removed heavy power-lines using the clone tool in the GIMP - much easier in a cloudless sky!
This is the scene taken from the same location as an earlier panorama in February this year. Cropped from a .tif output from Hugin. Checking the quality by using .tif rather than .jpg. Of course, all photos have been converted to .jpg here. Note heavy shadow in foreground from mid-afternoon sun.
Closer-up of the new dwelling with the view over the city and gulf peeking through the gap. No sign of the power lines here, but the shadow of the high pole gives their presence away!
This small dwelling was trucked onto the site a few days ago. I was struck by the dominance of the high-tension power lines in the scene as I took the photos.

View of our house, mid-winter in mid-afternoon. 27 June 2010. Compare with my first attempt just over a year ago in previous photo.
Mid-day, mid-winter mist almost cleared. Blue sky appearing in the upper-right of picture with a clear line of the fog.
Panoramic shot of double rainbow, using Hugin and the Gimp. 2501x1200px.
View out to Waitakere Ranges from Pemberton Park, North Shore, June 2010, 4515x2398 px - Origninal size.
View from Pemberton Park, overlooking Hobsonville with Waitakere Ranges beyond. Panoramic shot using Hugin to stitch together seven shots and edited in the GIMP.

Stand of mature pines flanked by Norfolk Pine on right and Pohutukawas on left. Long Bay, Auckland, June 2010.
View from Beach Rd, Long Bay, Auckland, showing green fields soon to be developed into housing estate. Long Bay beach is to the right of this view. Cattle can be seen grazing in middle distance near group of mature pine trees.
Panorama through a stand of tall pines near Torbay, overlooking the Hauraki Gulf and with Rangitoto Island centre, distance.
Rangitoto rising from the mists near left, middle. This compilation uses enfuse and kept more detail, but the sky becomes irregular in exposure. 17 May 2010
Streetscape composed in hugin and finished in GIMP. Looking up the street from where I photographed the tree in its Autumn colours. In particular I wanted to capture that marvellous blue, cloudless sky.
Streetscape showing tree in its Autumn colours in its setting in the street. The sky, in this direction, was cloudless, but towards the North it was quite clouded over, as shows in the bottom-right in the gap between the house and the fir trees.
I used 'curves' in the GIMP before merging in hugin, then copied and pasted the gum tree on the right, to get better colours into the trees. I had to use the perspective tool to fit it to the image that hugin had created. Of interest, this time the composite has captured three instances of my youngest grandson, running ahead of me! View of hotel development at Auckland International Airport. Final tidied up in the GIMP with just cropping. This view of the development was taken from higher up in the main building than the first scene.
View of hotel development at Auckland International Airport. Second attempt, tidied up in the GIMP.
Panoramic view of tree with its Autumn colouring, composed from seven [of 10] individual shots and stitched together using hugin. Final cropping and resize to 2085 x 1200 pixels. File size 2.1 MB
Panoramic view from the beach at Torbay, Auckland. From original 2722x800px, 657KB file size. Of interest is the fact that Hugin found all its common points to join the photos together in the clouds! See original album for details.
Panorama made using hugin and simply cropped in the GIMP. 1600x462px
The final panorama, cropped in the GIMP. No other touching up done at all. I've since noticed a tiny rectangular section missing in the top-middle of the photo. Could easily be cloned over. Note that this file has been significantly reduced in size to make it suitable for the Internet. Original file-size 4.9 MB.
Panorama of view from just below the summit of Mt Eden, overlooking the Newmarket Motorway Viaduct in foreground, with Waitemata Harbour and Islands in the distance, Coromandel Ranges on the horison. February 2010.
Conjoined houses in Balmoral Road, Auckland.
One final grand view of Wenderholm. Created in Hugin and touched up in the GIMP, this was composed from eleven individual shots of this scene.
Another panoramic view, closer towards the open sea, just to the right of this picture, put together with Hugin and finished in the GIMP.
Panoramic view of the river, tide coming in swiftly, at the Northern end of Wenderholm Regional Park. I used Hugin to stitch this view together and finished it in the GIMP.
Panoramic views over the crater of Mt Eden, Auckland, with, from left, Harbour bridge, Sky Tower and Central Business District, North Head with Rangitoto Island beyond and Trig station on far right. Acacia Cottage, Cornwall Park, Auckland, New Zealand. Photographer's inadvertent self-portraiture. Slightly cropped to resize to 1024 x 768 pixels to fit a screen.
Filled in the gaps with the cloning tool rather than cropping.
My second attempt with Hugin, using the Rectilinear Projection, with pleasing results. Text on the wall added with text tool in the GIMP. 11th April 2009
