We knew we were going into true countryside when we hit up this Apple stand/store in Minnesota. It was a great stop - we purchased strudel for 75 cents each and had a great chat with the guy, who was a local and talking about all the people moving out of North Dakota.
There is truly nothing once you get to the middle of south dakota.
This picture characterizes our entire trip in one photo.
We stopped and enjoyed the flat countryside for almost an hour.
You can see that the road appears to go on forever. This was characteristic of most of the area roads. We had also come from the famous corn palace in Mitchell...but sadly, we have no pictures from there.
WARNING: Graphic Roadkill! It is very difficult to take pictures with the fisheye - framing takes much more care. Jeff learned this while taking pictures of roadkill (notice his foot). I found this picture to be fun.
Tractor! Look out, they're on the road.
We drove really long times without stopping...sometimes it led Jeff to do strange things...
We then drove our car into the badlands for the sunset.
It was a dreamland..
This gives you an idea of how tall some of the formations in the badlands are.
This was our final sunset perch. A respectable spot.
The motorcycles were increasing in their regularity of appearance.
Jeff was smiling.
I was too (that's a smile, I promise).
And lastly, a cute picture. It's just cute in general. You will see a lot more of the badlands tomorrow.
