A picture in the Dark Church. Inside there were a lot of well preserved church frescoes because the darkness kept them from being damaged by the light.
Another fresco at the Goreme outdoor museum.
A landscape shot of Kappadokya
Another better preserved frescoes at the Dark church.
Floor plan of the Tokali Church at the Open Air Museum.
Wind chimneys near a farm.
Afternoon shot while trekking in Kappadokya
Sunset shot of Goreme town.
Goreme has many weird wind chimneys. Looks like phallic symbols to me.
Trails at Goreme. The guesthouse staff says you couldn't get lost but I beg to differ. Some of the trails are pretty scary because a slip means a long fall.
Another landscape shot of Kappadokya and its weird hills.
An underground church with a wine press.
A dramatic cliff. Some mentioned that Kappadokya was where they filmed the first Star Wars.
Lady with her pet goat. The goat was so adorable. I hope it doesn't end up on the menu too soon.
On the way up to a monastery. There are hundreds of little churches all over Kappadokya because the Christians went into hiding when they were persecuted.
Uchisar castle, I think. A majestic place with the highest lookout point around the area.
View from a hike. After 2 hours of getting lost, at least I see the end of the road. Moreover, the sun was setting pretty soon.
A fellow traveler, Lynn, that came with me on another walk.
