Here we are, ready to go. That's me on the left.
Sione at our first stop, Van Duzer wayside.
The lighthouse at Cape Meares State Park.
The foreground rock is home to hundreds, perhaps thousands of birds. If you're quiet you might be able to hear them.
Sione and her new friend the Octopus tree.
Whole in the rock, no doubt carved by whales to shorten their migratory trip to Alaska.
One of the beaches at Ecola State Park and one of The Goonies movie locations.
Who said slime isn't pretty?
The three faces of Ecola's mossy rocks.
This tree was engulfed by an earthquake debris flow around 1700.
Lu Anne's home. She graciously put us up for the night. That's Lu Anne's dog Chance admiring my bike.
Lu Anne seems to have a couple of green thumbs.
Astoria's Column.
Here's Lu Anne and Sione at Astoria Column with Astoria's Megler Bridge in the background.
At the bottom of the driveway to The Goonies house. Just as we left another group arrived.
Here's the Goonie house as of 8/9/2009.
Here's Sione's picture of the front of the house.
A shot from the movie of the house in 1985.
This is the view from the house.
A ship going up river just after passing under the Megler bridge.
Astoria has a problem with sea lions.
They brand them to keep track of their movements, which seems to be little if any.
Boat owners have a tough time accessing their boats.
They are kind of cute though.
This one seems to have part of a fishing net around its neck.
