Our route - we walked from Loharkhet, over the Dhakuri pass, then up to Zero point and back.
Starting Off.
This path is the only access into the valley. We shared it with donkey trains and all sorts of pedestrians.
View out from halfway up.
Little tea shop towards the top of the pass. The chap is carrying a carom board into the valley - and he overtook us soon afterwards.
Shrine at the top of the pass.
Chain of bells at the shrine - give them a clang as you go past.
slopes of the valley.
A solution for Hot and Wet! Wait, you say I look daft?
Easy walking for a bit.
Moss on trees.
First of many many waterfalls we saw.
Approaching Khati
Khati Village, surrounded by potato and hash fields.
We stayed here a night. Owned by a german guy who lets it out in the summer, but lives here through the winter.
Inside the chalet - very snug, in a teutonic way.
Hammock time - perfect.
Carrie in the dhaba, keeping warm and waiting for her dinner.
waterfalls - the monsoon season is getting underway.
The river is starting to get vicious - washing things away.
Last village in the valley - and time for a tea break.
Village - there's sweet tea and maggi noodles waiting.
A tea shop.
This pathetic little chap was in the tea shop, scrounging biscuts off people.
Bamboo groves.
Carrie with her bamboo stick.
Onwards and upwards.
Carrie's doing fine..
But I'm carrying the big rucksack, and am struggling.
Bridge over the river. Not surprised Carrie looks a bit anxious.
Rhododendrons.
More Rhododendrons.
Getting to the end of the valley, high up, and we're both knackered.
Got to keep going.
Ice bridge over the river. We had to cross this.
Crossing another frozen river.
Loads of sheep trying to cross. The shepherd had to jump in to catch one that was being swept away.
Soggy sheep.
Finally. Made it to the glacier (on the left). But first stopped for a cuppa at the Babu's house (on the right).
The Babu (holyman). He lives up here all year round.
His business card. Don't bother calling though - he has to walk 2 days to get mobile phone reception.
Pindari Glacier

The huge trench left as the glacier retreats.
