Here's looking at you babe!
Ronaele Foss getting a late start - @ 7:40

Yes, it was chilly, in the low 20's at the start
Greg Jones heading into the badlands
Greg's a big guy, but Team El Paso will need to move up for a draft
Jens Deichman and Steve Raugust cruising in El Malpais NM
The skies had a ting of smokiness and now we now why
Is Steve gettng loopy already?

And you wondered where Margaret O'kelley was
Ronaele grinning despite the late start and an epic all night drive from Colorado Springs
Pink Power
Margaret and Fred's shadow heading past El Morro National Monument
Lance and Lee clipping out at Checkpoint #2 on NM 53
Jeff Dorwart about to head north on Indian 4 at Checkpoint #2
Greg Pedano heads out along with Jeff's better half (no he's not married)
Greg Jones sporting that smile
Some clothes have been shed! It is now 57 at noon at Checkpoint #2
An RBA's delight - smiling riders
Fred Carpenter heading north in Zuni Tribal Lands
Busted!
Actually, I ran down my battery playing the new Joe Satriani CD for hours, this is best album in a few years
Paul Foss chatting it up with my savior. She had a power pack that jumped started me. After talking to an ambulance driver that was just passing by who radioed in, she was there in about 3 minutes! Plus another Zuni Tribal Officer (also a woman) came by to check on us too. All this with the biggest smile. I have her name, but I can't find now! Thank you.
Here she comes again!
Do I go straight? No right! But hey, you were supposed to stop and get your card signed. She's on a mission...1:02 PM - 46 minutes to spare on the Checkpoint closing time.
Yep, this is the middle of freaking nowhere!
Cheese!
Joe Moore lunching in the shadows after the light breeze downwind/uphill ride to Fence Lake.
Mile 114, Checkpoint #3M
Lee Brinckerhoff and Lance Hadfield cruising into Checkpoint #4. Once again I got there minutes before then as at Checkpoint #2. Nice job guys.
Lance and Lee now sporting short sleeves and shorts/knee warmers, but this is about where the wind started picking up. This is also where we saw the two women hiking...heading north from the border to wherever they felt like they didn't want to go any further. I was going to give them a lift to the La Ventana Arch where they wanted to spend the night, but they were not to be found an hour later. ?
Greg Pedano at Checkpoint #4
Jeff's thinking of asking if he can ride shot gun
But with only 38 miles to go into a building northerly wind (9-12MPH steady, gusting to 20) he's heading out
Joe Moore heading to Checkpoint #4, still strong
Greg at the beginning of the Sandstone Bluffs of the upcoming Narrows
Yep, Lance and Lee again, with the Narrows behind them and the wind in their face
Heading north, working the quartering wind
The last finisher coming in, and in style. Yes, Ronaele Foss with a happy face! This is a fitting end to her long day...on the road and in the saddle. Welcome back!
