Nicol David and other sports personalities of Malaysia carried the torch around Kuala Lumpur for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Torch Relay. The relay began at Dataran Merdeka with a simple opening ceremony, with the torch bearers running to Merdeka Stadium, before passing through many significant buildings in the city. The relay passed Wisma OCM, City Hall Building, Parliament House, National Museum, National Mosque, Old Central Railway Station, Chinese Assembly Hall, Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC) and KL Tower before reaching Merdeka Stadium.
After a short recess at Merdeka Stadium, the relay headed to KL Tower, where the Torch was taken to the top of the Tower for a scenic aerial view of the Tower before moving on to the KLCC.
Nicol also carried the Olympic torch on behalf of Malaysia during the torch relay ahead of the 2004 Olympics in Athens, Greece.
