Malolo Island in Fiji!
on the boat that was taking us from Nadi (the capital) to Malolo Island
a nice surprise we got on our beds when we arrived at the resort
a purple crab
hiding between bags
then we accidentally made it mad
I love the line of coconuts on the beach
our catamaran when we went island hopping. I'm sitting up front (3rd from the right).
after the Kava welcoming ceremony when we visited a village on Yanuya Island
the men who performed the ceremoney
absolutely adorable Fijian children!
overlooking the beautiful beach and water surrounding the island and village
another Melissa and I
a classroom of the primary school near the village
outside the classrooms
the primary school gate
the beautiful water
Modriki Island (where the movie Castaway was filmed)
the rock that Tom Hanks wrote on in the movie
trying to open up a coconut
...still trying...
the husk was tough...
...and it took a while...
but we succeeded!
the sunset back on Malolo Island
the roomies playing cards on our balcony at the lodge
it was Pirate Night that night
we look pretty fierce
a coconut. an item we had to find for our scavenger hunt.
tiki mask
a frog. another scavenger item.
geckos were everywhere to be found
trying to look like silly pirates. in the middle is Peterina, our host for Fiji.
THIS was Cross-dressing Night; these were our “girls”
I looked Mexican or something
very hardcore
Peterina, our guide/host for Fiji apparently could fire-dance!
kind of dark, but she was still amazing
after the staff put on a culture show for us on our last night at the Walu Beach Resort
the Australia and NZ groups who went to Fiji
before we left the island and Walu Beach Resort
good-bye Malolo Island :(
Amy, one of the funniest and sweetest Irish girls I've ever met
Tracy, Carolyn and I (from right to left).
at the airport waiting in line to check-in
our last group picture (of just the few of us who had come from NZ)
