2nd Annual Bridget and Martin Memorial Picnic on the Brandywine

On April 26th 10 cousins gathered on the banks of the Brandywine to celebrate their family. We gathered by the Josephine Fountain and ate subs from Casapulla's of Elsmere, scanned photos at Paul Brown's on Lovering Avenue and then a small contingent went to Cathedral Cemetery to visit the gravesite of Martin, Bridgett, Maggie, Martin and William.

John Andrew Munroe and Family Photo Album

The only son of Mary D and Michael John Munroe, John Andrew grew up in Wilmington, DE went to the University of Delaware and the University of Pennsylvania. He was a well loved professor at the University of Delaware for over 41 years. He and Dorothy raised three children who now live in Wisconsin, Massachusetts and Virginia.

Frank Monroe Family Photos

Many of these photos have been provided by Robert Monroe and Mary Louise McConaughy. Frank P. [Patrick] Monroe [Munroe] was born in Galway Ireland in 1874 and came to Wilmington, Delaware in 1878 on a voyage with only his older sister Mary. He left home as a very young man due to cruel treatment by his father and settled eventually in Pennsylvania. He had five children, three of whom lived to adulthood and he died in 1947 and is burried in Irwin Cemetary in Rochester, PA

Munroe Hall- University of Delaware and Newark High School

These are photos of Munroe Hall on the campus of the University of Delaware. This building was dedicated 11/2/1997 and named for John A. Munroe who served the university as a well loved teacher from 1942 until 1982. Details of the dedication can be found at: http://www.munroe.ws/Munroe%20Hall/Munroe_Hall_Page.html There are also pictures of the U of D campus as well as Newark High School where John A. Munroe first taught students. His children Stephen, Carol and Michael attended junior high school in this same building.
